Rainhill Trials week 7 recap.

In July I will be competing at the Rainhill Trials in Manchester; one of the biggest CrossFit competitions in the UK.

Week 7 done!

I don’t really remember much in the way of training this week, it seems to have flown by.

W/C - 06/05/19

Hardest workout:

I cant remember anything particularly ‘gruelling’ this week. I did a 1000 calorie assault bike session on Wednesday, but that was at ~70-75% max heart rate so not too taxing.

Most fun workout:

Biggest mistake :

Biggest win:

Whilst this week was uneventful in terms of training highlights, I finished everything planned, so that’s always a bonus.

I’m trying to stick to the following structure as much as I can, with at least 1 day of complete rest, and usually a half day off midweek too:

AM (1 - 2 hours): Cardio, biking, rowing, running, skiing, burpees; mainly mono-structural work.

PM 1 (1.5 - 2.5 hours): Alternating between a pure weightlifting session and a short strength and met-con session.

PM 2 (40-60 mins): Gymnastics, skill work.

Then 2-4 x weekly roughly an hour of steady state at around 70% max heart rate.

What I’ve learned:

The best way (for me) to warm up into a good snatch position is by spending a lot of time doing behind the neck snatch grip sotts presses.

Bring on week 8
